  Precision Machined Parts Processing

Generally, this refers to the processing and production of components for precision mechanical equipment. This requires a very high degree of accuracy. Therefore, in addition to understanding the specific material requirements for precision mechanical parts processing and the common techniques for processing precision mechanical components, we should also understand the steps involved in the processing of precision mechanical components. Below, we share the five stages of precision mechanical parts processing.

  1. Rough Machining

The main consideration is to improve productivity. Most of the machining allowance on each machining surface is removed, and the precision datum is machined.

  2. Semi-finishing

This mainly involves removing defects that may have occurred after rough machining, and simultaneously completing the machining of secondary surfaces. A certain machining accuracy must be achieved to prepare for the finishing stage and ensure an appropriate finishing allowance.

  3. Finishing

In the finishing stage, high cutting speeds, small feed rates, and cutting depths are mainly used to remove the machining allowance left by semi-finishing, so that the surface of the precision mechanical components meets the technical requirements of the drawings.

  4. Surface Finishing

Mainly used to reduce surface roughness or strengthen the machined surface, mainly used for surface machining with very high surface roughness requirements.

  5. Ultra-precision Machining

This mainly uses precision cutting, precision mirror grinding, precision grinding, and polishing methods to achieve a machining accuracy of 0.1-0.01μm for the workpiece, with a surface roughness value ra≤0.001μm.
